Berkeley Comes Away with a WinMar. 19, 2008 The BHS Varsity Team comes away with another win, beating University High School 16-12 in San Francisco Tuesday night. In the historic setting of Kezar Stadium, the Jackets were able to fight off a strong second half by University to get the win. Despite numerous injuries to starting players from Friday's game, Berkeley was able to hold on to move to 6-2 this season. Berkeley dominated the first half, behind a well-balanced attack and strong defense. Six different players recorded goals for BHS, led by Senior Serena Shen with 2 goals and 1 assist, and Junior Jenny Miner with 2 goals. Senior Janet Kenmotsu anchored the defense and the score at halftime was 8-4. Berkeley traded goalies at the half and University came out with a pressure defense. Both teams traded goals throughout the half but it was apparent Berkeley was not going to give up it's lead, maintaining a 4 goal buffer the rest of the way. University player Isabell Smith scored 7 goals, leading all players in points. Berkeley next faces Campolindo on Friday March 21st. Varsity game at 5:30pm, JV at 7pm.
