Berkeley Loses to #1 Amador

Box Score

Mar. 17, 2008

Berkeley Varsity faced #1 Amador Valley on Friday at Berkeley High and lost 17-4.

Amador boasts a strong squad led by many seniors, three of which are Division I bound next year. The Berkeley team had moments of excellence but were worn down by Amador's constant pressure in the midfield. Senior middie Celeste Swain  scored 3 goals for Berkeley and Serena Shen added another goal for Berkeley's final score of 4. Goalie Eden Maloney had 8 saves but the defense was often outrun by a fast paced Amador midfield and set attack.

One high note for Berkeley was the consistency of clean play - Berkeley players were not called for any fouls, while Amador racked up 2 yellow cards throughout the game.

Berkeley Varsity next faces University High School of San Francisco on Tuesday March 18th at 5:30pm in Kezar Stadium.
